NFL Playoff Pick’em Pools

Keep your group picking through the Super Bowl.

Give your group fresh picks each round as the playoff matchups are set. Correct picks earn points, and a wrong pick doesn’t knock anyone out. Play straight up or against the spread, with equal points per game or more in later rounds.

Everyone plays through the final game. Members pick winners or play against the spread, with equal points per game or different values by round.

$1 per entry for the playoffs. Nothing upfront.

Playoff scoring formats

Choose how the points add up.

There are 13 playoff games: six Wild Card, four Divisional, two conference championships, and the Super Bowl. Your scoring decides how much each round matters.

One point per correct pick.

Give every game the same value, from Wild Card through the Super Bowl. The entry with the most correct picks wins. Six of the 13 available points come from Wild Card weekend.

More points in later rounds.

For example, award 1 point per correct pick in Wild Card, 2 in Divisional, 4 in the conference championships, and 8 in the Super Bowl. Later games carry more weight even as the schedule shrinks.

Confidence points.

Let members weight their own picks. A round-by-round setup uses values 1 through 6 for Wild Card, then 1 through 4 for Divisional. Another option is a single 1 through 13 bank, using each value once across the playoffs.

Your pool’s rules

Playoff pick’em rules for your group.

Keep the scoring your group likes. Set picks and deadlines for each round, then decide how to handle ties at the finish.

Format and rounds

Starting round
Wild Card weekend, or a later playoff round.
Where it ends
The Super Bowl, or an earlier round you choose.
Entries per person
One each, or a cap you choose.
Standings
Track the whole postseason, individual rounds, or both. A wrong pick does not eliminate an entry.

Scoring

How picks resolve
Straight-up winners, or picks against the pool’s posted spread.
Equal points
Give every correct pick the same value across all rounds.
Points by round
Set a different value for correct picks in each round. Increasing the values gives later games more weight in the total.
Confidence points
Members assign values to game picks. Reset the values each round, use one bank across the playoffs, or choose a custom set.
Key picks and bonus games
Add a bonus to a member’s selected key pick, or designate games that are worth extra points for everyone.
Incorrect picks
Score a wrong pick as zero, or deduct the value a correct pick would earn.
Over/Under picks
Include predictions above or below the pool’s posted game total, alongside winner or spread picks.
Pushes against the spread
Half-point spreads avoid pushes. With whole-point lines, decide whether a push earns partial credit, full credit, or no points.

Picks and deadlines

How many games
Every game, or a required number you choose for each round. Account for the schedule shrinking from six games to four, two, and one.
A missed pick
Score an unfilled pick as incorrect, or use an automatic selection such as the home team, road team, favorite, underdog, or a random team.
Pick deadline
The round’s first kickoff, each game’s kickoff, or a day and time you set. A game that starts before the deadline still locks at kickoff.
Round-specific deadlines
Use a different cutoff for a particular round. Playoff games can fall on several days, so specify the time zone as well.
Entry deadline
Close entries at the opening deadline, or accept late entries under your missed-pick and scoring rules.
Postponed or cancelled games
Set whether picks wait for a rescheduled result, are removed from scoring, or receive another stated outcome.

Ties and the finish

Round tiebreaker
Use a total-points prediction for a designated game, another stated tiebreaker, or allow tied round standings.
Overall tiebreaker
Use a Super Bowl total-points prediction, pick margins, or another stated rule. The overall tiebreaker can differ from the round tiebreaker.
Remaining ties
Keep a shared finish or apply another tiebreaker. Establish any prize splits before the opening round.
Dropped rounds
Optionally exclude an entry’s worst round from the overall total. Specify which rounds qualify, especially if their point values differ.

Visibility and control

Seeing other picks
As each game locks, or all at once at the deadline
Point spreads
Shown on the pick sheet, or kept off it. A pool that plays against the spread always shows them
How ATS spreads get set
Automatically from the market at any day and time, or manually. Unused for straight-up pools; the time is ignored in manual mode
Half-point ATS spreads
Automatic spreads always use half-points, so games cannot push; manual spreads are not guaranteed to use half-points
Commissioner picks
Enter and fix picks for a member, or turn that off
Commissioner visibility
Always off. Nobody sees a pick before it locks, you included
Rules text
A rules page generated from your settings, plus a note in your own words
Audit markers
Commissioner picks are flagged “C”.
Advance picks
Make picks ahead of time once the round’s matchups are set.
Entry management
Keep track of who has joined, how many entries they have, and who still owes their dues.

Before Wild Card weekend.

The differences between a fresh playoff pool and your regular-season game.

Is this the same as a playoff bracket pool?

No. In round-by-round pick’em, members choose from the actual matchups as each round is set. A bracket pool asks them to predict the playoff path before the opening game. An early wrong pick in pick’em does not stop anyone from picking the next round. See how playoff brackets work.

How do picks against the spread work?

The selected team must cover the pool’s posted line. A favorite at −3.5 must win by at least four points. Set when your pool’s lines become fixed; a later market line does not change how an existing pick is scored.

Can members pick the same team again?

Yes. Each game is a new pick. A member can pick the same team in later rounds as long as it is still playing. The usual survivor restriction on reusing teams does not apply.

Can we have round winners as well as an overall winner?

Yes. Use each round’s results for round winners and the combined score for the overall race. Set tiebreakers for both. With only one game in the final round, a Super Bowl total-points prediction can separate entries that pick the same side.

Can our regular-season pool continue instead?

Yes. A pool that includes playoff rounds keeps its existing entries and accumulated scores. Create a separate playoff pool if you want everyone to start from zero, including people who missed the regular season.

Can we start after Wild Card weekend?

Yes. Start a new pool in a later round and score only its included games. Publish it before that round’s opening pick deadline.

What does a separate playoff pool cost?

$1 for each entry you keep in the new pool, with nothing upfront and no minimum. The new pool is billed separately.

Ready to run your pool?

In setup, choose Wild Card (or a later round) as the start, and Super Bowl or your chosen final round as the end.
